In which we see that we can't admit to a lack of knowledge - we can't throw up our hands and say we can't do the job - when someone is depending on us. But we can't lie and say we know how to do it, either - if we DON'T know. What then?

You've seen hovercards on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, where if you mouseover your friend's name, a pop-up box shows some of the friend's info. What a useful tool, for ever so many reasons!

Below is a very rough diagram of a Wordpress blog, to show you what goes into it. Your blog is based on a theme, which defines both its layout and its appearance. There are many skilled designers out there who can create a theme for you from "scratch," but every Wordpress theme - even one custom-made for your site - is composed of common elements written in PHP. This diagram shows a few of those common elements: those which are seen in almost every Wordpress blog.

These are basic Twitter lessons I put up on Facebook, to celebrate the start of the Fan page for Social Media Akron.

Twitter Lesson #1 - they say Twitter, a platform of status updates, is for "microblogging." I like the word "microconsulting" better. Ask yourself what you can do in a single short sentence: can you answer one question? can you make one friend? can you get someone to trust you? can you get someone to laugh? If you can, that's power.
